Orange Jordan Green Energy Projects

Orange Jordan follows the Engage 2025 strategy’s social and environmental ambitions and commitments. By adopting clean, renewable energy, the company continues to help face climate change and reduce ecological damage, in line with the global group’s commitment to reduce carbon emissions by 30% by 2025 and to zero by 2040, where it established three Solar Farms to achieve its goal.

Orange Jordan designed a sustainable CSR strategy that focuses on empowering youth, women and people with disabilities in three main areas: Digital Inclusion, Digital Education and Entrepreneurship.

What is the

CSR Strategy

Jordan’s wealth lies in its human resources; of whom youth under 34 years- represent 70.6%, women represent 48.6% and people with disabilities represent 11.3%. (Source: 2015 national census) Despite the fact that illiteracy rates are very low and pursuing higher education is in the core of the Jordanian culture, unemployment rate has hit the line of 19% by the end of 2019 and poverty rate has reached 15.7% in 2018. (Source: Department of Statistics)

Jordan has high levels of entrepreneurial activity, where Technology based startups (TBSs) overall contribution to nominal GDP reached 0.4%, or JD 104 million and created 36% of total employment opportunities in the ICT sector in 2016, with estimated contribution to the Jordanian economy of JD 119 million.

"Being a part of Orange’s incubator, Orange linked us with international partners, and business networking opportunities. Most importantly, we have highly benefited from the integration of Orange Money with our payment gateways as our customers can access a convenient variety of payment gateways on our platform. I would like to thank the team at Orange Incubator, for not only engaging us in a supportive eco-system for growth but also giving us a direction in achieving wonderful results"

Rola Fayyad / Founder & CEO ViaVii

"Before getting the scholarship, I used to work and study at the same time which affected my academic results. But, when I won Orange’s scholarship through JOHUD, I was able to focus on my major and, even, participate in the local edition Hult Prize Competition in which I placed first. Today, I work with my team on a project that aims to solve youth unemployment issue in Jordan"

Mu’iad Al Ashhab / Industrial Engineer

"The Coding Academy by Orange was more than a place to learn to code. It was a place of friendship, teamwork, and most importantly, having a good time! During that time in the Academy, I've been surrounded by the smartest and most talented people I've ever seen, people that without them, my work would be impossible, people who really encourage you to keep going, despite the odds. Thank you Orange!"

Elias Nada / Back End Developer at Opensooq

"Before participating in the courses offered by Orange, I used to face difficulties in communicating with clients, building relationships with them and understanding their needs. I also, had troubles in social media marketing and managing my project from home. But the courses helped me to develop marketing skills, define prospected customers and communicate with them efficiently"
