Orange Jordan is a leading provider of integrated communications services in the Kingdom, with a broad lineup of fixed, mobile and Internet services and an expanding customer base now exceeding 4 million. Today, the company constitutes the backbone of Jordan’s ICT landscape. Its advancement comes as a direct result of the decision to privatize Jordan Telecom Group which was considered by many experts a success story in Jordan’s privatization program, for both the sector and the economy at large.
Leveraging on its international brand status, Orange Jordan has contributed significantly to placing the Kingdom on the regional telecommunications map, and it has been celebrating milestones ever since.
In 2008 the company launched the Orange Techno Center, a research and development center dedicated to providing unique solutions to Orange affiliates in more than 27 countries, and in the year 2010, it was recognized as the first operator in the Kingdom to introduce 3G+ connectivity.
In 2011, it also introduced the most comprehensive customer service initiative in Jordan’s Telecom history to date, the “EMTIYAZ”, or “Excellence” program.
In 2013, Orange introduced VDSL and fiber connectivity for the first time in Jordan, both of which came as part of a discovery phase that demonstrated the true potential of both technologies. VDSL was commercially launched in October 2014 under “Fiber speed1” offer, delivering unlimited downloads at speeds reaching 80 Mbps to numerous areas in Amman.
Shortly after, the operator also became the first in the Kingdom to introduce 4G connectivity in several areas in Amman preceding the network’s full launch. This has allowed Orange subscribers to experience the many benefits of 4G connections free of charge. In January 2015, the operator announced that it had obtained the license for frequencies within the 1800 MHz from the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission, in return for a JD71 million investment. These frequencies were earmarked for the full-scale commercial launch of its 4G network, which is to take place in 2015.
Recently, the company launched its new strategy for the years 2015-2020 under the title: “Essentials 2020” which focuses mainly on providing unmatched customer experience. To achieve this goal, the company will invest more than JD 300 million between 2015 and 2018, including a JD 200 million investment in its fixed and mobile network infrastructure, setting the target of delivering the best network experience in Jordan by year-end 2015. The operator is also working on modernizing all customer touch points to create a converged customer experience, introducing a new shop concept and establishing new channels to measure the feedback of its customers.
In line with His Majesty King Abdullah II’s vision, the Group’s prime objective has always been to help transform the Kingdom into a leading regional ICT hub. This strategy has been a key driving force behind its continued investment in the development of its network and its introduction of cutting edge technologies in various programs in the arenas of education and entrepreneurship.
