Orange recently announced that it has been selected by the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) to be the official provider of telecommunications services for this year's football tournament. As a global sponsor of the tournament, which is the third largest sport event in the world, Orange has also secured exclusive sponsorship rights across 27 countries throughout Europe, Africa, and the Middle East.
Building upon its previous partnership with UEFA EURO 2012, Orange will provide all fixed and wireless communications for the tournament to enable UEFA and its broadcast partners to deliver live feeds of the matches to football fans around the world, as well as providing staff, officials, media, referees and volunteers with connectivity through approximately 25,000 access points and mobile services throughout the tournament. Orange expects to lead a team of over 800 experts, all dedicated to delivering the EURO 2016. As an official global sponsor of Europe's premier footballing event, Orange will also be developing an array of new products, services, and offers on the occasion of EURO 2016, allowing customers to take full advantage of all opportunities to stay updated on the latest tournament scores and news.
Commenting on the occasion, CEO of Orange Jordan Jérôme Hénique said, "We are excited to take on the role of being UEFA EURO 2016™'s exclusive telecommunications provider for the second time and are honored to offer our support by being a global sponsor of the tournament. As football occupies a special place in the hearts of millions around the world, especially Jordanians, we see this as an incredible opportunity to place the Orange brand name in a favorable position on both a local and global level. Orange Jordan anxiously awaits to see the positive effect that our sponsorship of the EURO 2016 will have on the Kingdom."
Hénique went on to say that the EURO 2016 provides Orange Jordan and Orange as a whole with the perfect environment to showcase continuous development and progress in network strength and technical expertise, a key milestone as laid out by Orange's corporate strategy Essentials 2020. Through its regular sponsorships of events that serve to unite people around the world, Orange seeks to create a truly personal relationship with its customer base, making a sustained impact that goes beyond a single interaction and connecting more and more people to what is essential to them.
